Interview to Gwen Stefani

"Just a girl".   By Luis Corbacho for Planeta Urbano Magazine.

Translation by Carolina Friszman.

Her songs have sold more than twenty million records in the whole world. She's become one of the most important current pop icons with a style based on the recycling of as diverse as effective styles.

(...)

However, behind this bad girl is hidden a regular young lady who has just announced her coming-soon wedding and whose greatest wish in life is to raise a family.

Gwen Stefani was born in October 3 1969 in Orange, California. Her family was deeply Catholic and traditionalist. These features marked her childhood and made her a not very sociable kid. Although it may seem hard to believe, Gwen used to be extremely introverted as a teen. (...)

In those days she became famous thanks to the hit 'I´m just a girl', an irony about dumb blondes. Still, she thinks herself to be at times "dumb, shallow and somewhat naive ". That's her; she likes playing with contradictions, she goes from one end of the line to the other, changing as the chameleon's skin.

(...)

"We want to make fun, optimistic and happy songs", she declared when she introduced her last record. (...) If in the beginning of this article we said Gwen's true dream was to raise a family, at 32 the circle of her wishes seems to be closing perfectly. After six years of uninterruptedly dating her, the love of her life Gavin Rossdale (the leader of Bush) has proposed to her, and she said yes without hesitating.

It's true that this mysterious Californian girl's dreams have always been hard to accomplish. But once she's made them true, they've surpassed all expectations. That's why nobody dares doubt she'll become a mother one day, and when she does she'll make a family so huge that it'll demand all her instincts, until another wish is born in her mind.
