Peter Gabriel: the alchemist who beat the pain

Here's an interview to Peter Gabriel, on the launch of his new album, Up. He speaks his mind on topics like death and resurrection -not without a note of resignation-, his music as a way of getting to know people as well as different cultures, censorship and the way he deals with some of the music biz's less positive features (such as touring and reclusion in the studio). A portrait of a man who has come to accept the rules (both in life and art), knowing its downfalls, but who lives by them anyway.

No wonder he prefers to speak to animals and explore their customs!

Jealousy, a handy friend!
Is Jealousy the Antidote to Cheating?

Continuing with the topic of love here's another theory to discuss. An evolutionary psychologist called David Buss claims that all couples feel jealous at some point, whether they express it or not. Moreover, that this feeling is vital for maintaining love because they carry out the part of "warding off potential rivals and assuring reproduction", among other "functions" (such as reassuring self-esteem, demonstrating concern or keeping the passion alive). But isn't it a shame sustaining a relationship on the basis of limitation and guilt?

Plus, this guy's remarks make it sound as if he was talking of animals instead of complex individuals.

And then, a poll (put together by Argentinean psychologists) shows what the fears of women and men are, and what they are usually jealous of.

Countdown
How long have I got?

Speaking of pessimist approaches, check the new Internet craze…"Death clocks", nice little clocks that tell you how much time you got left. These cheery devises, which are making furor, offer to predict precisely when you will die. And while some doctors are infuriated, others claim they could help health-awareness. No matter what, it makes you think of people's always-on-the-rise interest on this issue.
