Washing machine, Internet and car - "vital" for Europeans.   Source: Ansa.

According to an interview carried out by the Italian demoscopic institute "Observa", the car, the Internet and the automatic washing machine are considered the indispensable goods and services of modern society. The cell phone, on the other hand, is not among the priorities European citizens have settled when it comes to comfort, according to the results of the piece of research called "Impossible to live without it", carried out among 2.000 Italian, German, British, Portuguese and Norwegian citizens over 15 years old.

The survey shows that %43,7 of Europeans consider their computer necessary for entertainment, %41,8 think so of their car or motorbike, while %49,3 need their washing machine.

As to the use of mobile phones, %19 of Italians believe they couldn't live without them, just like the Portuguese and following the %24,6 of Norwegians. Germans care even less for it: only %5 of them would not give their cell phone up under any circumstances.

Young Europeans give top priority to the Internet, with a degree of importance only comparable to that of TV two decades ago and they consider the web the best means of communication.
