Matrix - the anomaly
Neo's message, movies and philosophy
To the surprise of some part of the audience, Matrix Reloaded is not as good it should be (according to the expectations raised by part I), in fact it's nearer to being a total flop than to satisfying the highly anticipated work of art many foresaw. But which was exactly the thrill of Matrix? The reading of the main story served as a vehicle to criticize certain cultural models pushing us to reevaluate the way we live. Then, we got Reloaded, which made Matrix seem an anomaly, a rather fortuitous act where thoughts and images merged through some random process into a potent abstraction, and on the other side led us to wonder if the creators' intention behind the Matrix project ever was what we imagined it was. It's surprising even to find that in many of the philosophical aspects Matrix is stuck, dealing with unproductive issues such as the nature of reality, which were already tackled.

Programmed to live?
Clock of ages
More evidence on the not so bad character of genes, this time based on the fact that all animals would appear to have a kind of genetic switch that can alter normal lifespan, showing that a change in a single gene could alter the lifetime of a living being. Which is clearly not only a good way of finding in genetics an enhancement of human potential, but also a pretty good piece of news for those who wish to stick around more time…
