Wealthy people. Appeared in Clarín/Zona.
There are 2.600.000 millionaires in Europe, after about 100 thousand people incorporated in 2002 to this privileged minority, according to a report on poverty in the first world carried out by "Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and Merrill Lynch Private Bank". The total number of rich Europeans is 35,62 per cent of the estimated 7.3 million millionaires in the world. Since 1995, the report says, 2002 was the year in which the number of rich Europeans grew least. "All in all, the collective of rich people grew in 200.000 individuals around the globe, and they have 25,9 billions Euros, that is to say, 3,6 % more than in 2001", informs the Spanish newspaper El País. The "multimillionaire club" (those who own more than 30 million dollars), grew 2 %, and reached 58.000 people. According to Merrill Lynch, after the fall in the markets, the rich reacted quickly and "diversified their share portfolios".
