The ceremony and the wedding. The party. And the inevitable: the couple's encounter, just the two of them, face to face. Advertising agency Burnett carried out a poll among thousands of just-married couples in the United States to confirm or dismiss a usual movie scene: the moment when they exclaim "Alone at last!" Publicists wanted to know what happens after they close the door of the first matrimonial room. The results are surprising. 90% of questioned grooms said the first thing they did was pass one finger under their collar and say: "It's hot in here!" -even in winter. 50% also felt their pockets in search of cigarettes. 3% complained about their shoes and tried to ease their swollen toes. 2% started laughing crazily and even forgot to close the door. 1% stood in silence.

Brides, on the other hand, focused their attention in different things. 100% admitted looking in a mirror to check their hair. 20% commented how affected the bridesmaids were, especially the groom's sisters. 15% looked through the window to see what their neighbors were doing. Another 15% checked the names of relatives and friends who hadn't sent any gift. 10% screamed "watch it, honey, you'll spoil my dress!" Another 10% asked what time some TV show started. 9% complained that their underwear was too tight. 8% sat on the bed and cried silently. 7% asked an aspirin. 3% reproached their husband for being absent minded during the ceremony or for staining their suit before the toast. 2% asked what day it was. 1% said nothing.
